Impressive Metal Owl Sculpture by Harold Breit with Yellow Glass Eyes
Posted by Megan Petersen on
I am beyond impressed by these pictures of an owl sculpture that Harold Breit from Burlington, Canada sent me. If you look close (it took me a second!) you'll realize that most or all of the metal this sculpture is made out of is crafted from forks and spoons! Then the last thing Harold added were a set of these yellow owl glass eyes. According to Harold, "They really bring the owl to life." Thanks for sharing with us, Harold! Upgraded Ammonite Modelsin Manitoba
Posted by Megan Petersen on
Danny from Manitoba takes models of ammonites (squids that went out with the dinosaurs 66 million years ago) and 10-ups them with spray paint, connecting them with magnets, and adding glass eye cabochons from handmadeglasseyes.com. Describing his process, Danny writes, "I bought these 3D printed models from a dealer on eBay. They are white plastic and their eyes were little more than small featureless bumps. So...I spray painted the models, attached them by magnets to "plastic rocks" meant for aquarium decor and thought I'd paint the eyes. On second thought messing up the eyes by a shaky hand would just...
